The case of Brindi the dog may well be over.
A provincial court judge has fined former owner Francesca Rogier $600 and ordered ownership of the dog be transferred to the Halifax Regional Municipality in the latest stage of a protracted battle over the dog's fate.
The judge stopped short of ordering the dog destroyed, however, and said Brindi should be treated like any other dog by the municipality and adopted out if possible.
Brindi was seized from Rogier for a second time in September 2010 after the dog attacked another. Rogier was found guilty last month of allowing a dog to run at large, failing to muzzle Brindi and owning a dog that attacked another.
Rogier did not appear in court. Susan Jordan, a trainer who has worked with Brindi and Rogier and appeared for her, said she thinks Rogier didn't show because she expected the emotions of the day to be too much for her.

Best outcome possible. Now Rogier will need another meal ticket.
ReplyDeleteShe'll FIND one (another meal ticket) not to worry. What she'd better turn her attention to is her 'house.' That kitchen needs two foundation walls to hold it up and as for the rest. . . Lord it looked SO MUCH better before she started on it. If she doesn't shape up and pay taxes and assessment for fence HRM had to build she will be up S**t Creek. NO ONE is going to take her in THIS time....and she won't even be able to RENT a place. Not when people know the police had to be called twice to get her out of and off someone else's property.
ReplyDeleteSerious question: What are the chances of Brindi being euthanized by HRM (who wanted it done a couple of years back)?
ReplyDeleteIts highly unlikely.....!!
ReplyDeleteOF course she'll be adopted!!! You can't beg on THAT reasoning any more. It would be terrible PR for HRM and they will adopt her out to a responsible rescue. I understand that some, including out of province which would be best, have already stepped up with offers.
ReplyDeleteThe "ooooh they don't MEAN it; they are going to kill her anyway" just won't FLY.
Pipe down for once and go put a wall under your kitchen and fix the damn eyesore you have made of yr house.
Paranoid much? - no I'm not FR and I was asking a basic question as my concern is for Brindi's well being not her ex owner's. I don't care about the condition of Ms. Rogier's house if that's what you mean...
DeleteHey last anonymous, I answered your question with..."Its highly unlikely.....!!""" There are many people from NS and many more from all across NA working to rescue Brindi, along with full co-operation from HRM, however because of Fran's past behaviour it has to be secret, once Brindi is rehomed fran will have no idea to who or where only a select few will know. Hope this answers your questions....
ReplyDeleteYes it does and thank-you for maintaining this blog as a balance to the other ones... "LA"
ReplyDeleteAnother question, but by a different "Anonymous": What are the chances of HRM or the person in charge of making the decision of whether or Brindi will be put up for adoption, what are the chances of them having Brindi euthanized if FR gets hundreds and hundreds of her supporters flooding the offices of HRM with mailed-in fake dog poop, and with hundreds of letters saying the decision was unfair, with emails? Will HRM get fed up and have Brindi killed out of anger? Or will they keep their cool and take the higher road and make sure that Brindi is re homed? And do you have any inside knowledge of how Brindi was being treated or is being treated at the Kennel? Is it true that the family there played with her and treated her kindly? Did she get other attention other than just being let out to use the bathroom and other than just being fed? Have they bonded do you think? We are all just hoping that Brindi will be able to be in a loving and caring home very soon! Maybe she could stay with that family? The guy there seems to be able to protect his property from anyone that might try to go steel Brindi. No one would let any harm come to them or to Brindi.
ReplyDeleteyes FR does know that sending the fake poop is a criminal offence, that's why she's getting other people to do it for her. Will HRM now kill Brindi out of anger? Or will they ignore her crazy antics and take the higher road and do what is best for Brindi, finding her good home? She says she hopes it will get the media's attention, but she got the media attention on june 26 and refused to be interviewed! She had them right at her door!
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody here have any inside info if genuine efforts are being made to save Brindi's life? Are the kennel owners pulling for Brindi? We're hoping HRM does not let Rogier rile them up. Seems as if she's trying to sabotage any chance that Brindi may have at surviving this. She's taunting them. If HRM thinks that killing Brindi will be sticking it to Ms. Rogier, they should think again. If they kill her it will garner Rogier even more supporters from around the world, more sympathy, therefore more people willing to click that paypal button. If HRM lets Brindi live, most of her supporters will move on, because most of her supporters are there for Brindi, not for her. If they kill Brindi, her supporters will be enraged, spread the word even more, and tons more supporters will show up to help her save what little she has left, you know, the mess she is in with her house and that, they'll help her get the 4 years that she lost, of her life. Remember, you've said it yourselves, if she can't have her no one will. In her mind, they killed Brindi a long time ago. Any insight at all would be appreciated. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThe kennel owners are pulling for Brindi,as are other behind the scenes rescues, however I can't say anything more at this time, until after the appeal period has passed...I will go as far as saying that I will bet a months pay that Brindi will be re homed on or about the 21 August of this year.
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking the time to put my mind at ease a bit. Much appreciated.
DeleteJust remember, when Brindi is rehomed, Fran will not know where or when and she will keep putting out the info that her dog was killed because she has no proof to the contrary. That will enable her to continue to seek money from her supporters. This is the way the scam works.
ReplyDeleteI don't think a lot of people would fall for that, some may, but most would not. If she were to put out the info that Brindi was killed and her ONLY proof is that "she has no proof of the contrary", I think that for her followers to pump the paypal she would have to show them actual proof that HRM has killed Brindi.
DeleteWatch for a new donation campaign before the appeal in a last ditch effort to bring in funds.
ReplyDeleteShe has tweeted an appeal won't be successful and petitions don't help, so why bother? In order to sue HRM she would have to follow through with the appeal.
Rest assure though there is NO WAY HRM will put Brindi down for all the reasons others have mentioned above. Brindi WILL be going to a loving and stable home.
Is this correct? that in order to go ahead with her lawsuit against HRM, she has to first appeal the last court's decision? You mean she can't go ahead and sue if she doesn't exhaust all other legal avenues re this case first, hence the reason for this appeal?
DeleteMadame Rogier may sue HRM at any time, however I don't think she has a leg to stand on as She has been found guilty on 3 charges twice for a total of 6 convictions,What she is appealing now is the last 3 convictions, and to have Brindi returned to her,in order to win she has to prove an error in law,and I don't think she gets that; she believes it will be a complete new trial, not so.
DeleteShe's now piggy-backing on the lennox case. On her open save brindi group she's telling everybody about how brindi may soon be facing same fate as lennox, and then two commentators come on and posted at that same time. One from the Animal Liberation Front and another woman who is once again proposing that a group of people should go kidnap brindi and bring her to the states. Those two woman show up on that post at the same time, and at the same time of FR's post. Odd. Imagine the terror for Brindi if they go in there and took her like that, to ship her off somewhere. It's sick. And then she tells them well she needs to raise money. One minute it's a no go for appealing, too much work, will never win, not enough time, the next minute it's a must do, must appeal, and needs to raise money to try to put out a lot of fires that she's had to neglect? what does that mean? she talks from both corners of her mouth daily, often in the same post
ReplyDeleteI saw that. I find it strange as well there is no thought regarding Brindi. To appeal would require more time and since Fran admits it wouldn't be successful, why not let Brindi be adopted out sooner rather than later.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the post about 'yet again' raising money. I saw the confusing post as meaning another petition and appeals won't work, but she still has a phone, power, credit card, etc. she needs to pay so everyone needs to pony-up. Welcome to the real world Fran of bills. How would she even support Brindi if she can't look after herself? The woman seriously needs to get a job IMO, just like everyone else.
She's exploiting the death of Lennox to get people on her cause, exploiting Brindi too, since she knows Brindi is not being returned to her, but she's making it seem as if there is still a chance to get her back, but not through the court system, because the courts are corrupt. If she could just come clean and just say it: I need help getting back on my feet after these last four years. I need to move on and get back to living my life. I need your financial help to do it. It does say on her group ''save Brindi AND FRANCESCA''. One of her followers said earlier that they have saved Brindi, now it's time to save Francesca. If they could stick to THAT, and leave Brindi and Lennox out of it! she'd have a better chance of getting some funding to get back on her feet. At least it would be more honest and less condescending of the folks she's trying to get help from.
ReplyDeleteWell said, and I agree except for court are corrupt. The problem is their are some people that will always need help due to their decision capabilities or choices and I believe she is one of them. She accepts ZERO responsibility for anything. Brindi couldn't put the muzzle or the leash on herself, yet according to her it wasn't her fault. It never is. IF she is collecting money for reasons other than what was/is stated it is FRAUD pure and simple. I have no sympathy for people lying, cheating and stealing and that is what fraud is. I do hope she moves on with her life. However, I suspect she will delay the adoption by selfishly appealing a decision she admits will not change in her favor. That doesn't spell "LOVE" to me.
ReplyDelete"not through the court system, because the courts are corrupt" : is something she had said to her followers. New members are pouring in from the Lennox groups. They are under the impression that she is still fighting to get Brindi back home. She is not. If she files an appeal she is doing so knowing that she has no chance of winning. Some of them are still suggesting taking the law into their own hands and she is not discouraging them from doing so. I hope HRM does the right thing by making sure that Brindi winds up in a new home. And soon!!! I am fearful that she will entice the already angered Lennox fans into harassing HRM to the point that HRM will kill Brindi out of spite. More sympathy $ for her. I hope HRM has more sense than that! Brindi must not be killed! To do so would be just as evil and sick as what BELFAST has done.
ReplyDeleteAnd as mean as fran has been about Brindi. It has become all about the raising of money and not the welfare of the dog. She is still misleading the public and trying to ride on the coattails of Lennox. She has no shame.
ReplyDeleteIt appears if the latest donation request is for however Fran sees fit. Fix up her house, add the deck & garage, pay her credit card, on & on. She has fully admitted she won't win the appeal but has too? Why, to sue HRM? This hasn't been about Brindi in ages IMO.
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly is she appealing does anybody know? Does HRM have to wait until the appeal is over before they can act one way or another for Brindi?
ReplyDeleteTo "Anonymous Monday, July 16, 2012": When the new fund raising web page showed up, she had a lot of non-brindi or non-legal things in her list that needed funding. The list got shorter as time went by. Maybe someone told her she should pull back a bit on the home renovation wish list LOL. Some of the things that she had originally listed on there: cedar shingles, a sky light?!! It was obvious the main goal of her fundraising efforts was for her renovation project and not for legal fees or Brindi. CEDAR shingles and A SKY LIGHT?!?!?!!!!!!
