Heritage Home

I know a lot of Americans who have come to Canada and bought old homes. They have all restored these homes to their original glory right down to the ground cellars. Beautiful homes.

Fran is the first American who has systematically destroyed a Heritage Home! Now that home is in danger of being lost forever. Just another thing to endear her to us! Seems all she touches is NOT gold.

  1. It is a tragedy. She has cost the taxpayers of NS untold amounts of money and now has destroyed a 150-year-old property with history in the community--a home where generations lived, children were raised. A 2-car garage for a single woman? A basement? I rather suspect that they were a pretense for jacking up this lovely old building so the view of Chezzetcook Inlet would be better from her new wrap-around deck when she was doing yoga and relaxing on it during her work-free days.

If her skill at 'interviewing' contractors is any indication, she's never built anything more substantial than a sand castle. She ignored the advice of a local person who sent her candidates whose work she knew and vouched for. You get what you pay for, kiddo.

They initially told her to finish the work before she could move back in. But when they had to kick her off the premises for the 20th time, HRM sent inspectors to really take a good second look. Very reluctantly I am sure, they concluded it was no longer in condition to be 'finished.' Its sad end will have to be demolition.

Poor little house. Stood all these years--just to be destroyed by the negligence of an 'architect.' A YEAR ago April she knew Judge would give her back Brindi (so briefly alas). But she was just too?? Maybe worn out from collecting money from all over the world and blogging about her pains, insomnia and the intermittent animal noises she made in her unique agony. She didn’t update the plans, find a legit contractor and DO THE JOB summer 2010. Get bloody ON with it. Another winter has passed. And now it's too late to save it.

There's a link for Heritage House Grants--Nova Scotia including the email of person in charge. She is right that the custom windows they paid half of cannot be used elsewhere. I believe that calls for reimbursement to the fund--so others, less careless and more competent can have access to money from the fund for many worthwhile projects that will be an asset to their communities.

Her FB group "Save Brindi and Francesca from the City of Halifax" needs an addition (...and 782 East Chezzetcook Road.) Except it SHOULD be titled "Save the City of Halifax--and its taxpayers--from Francesca E. Rogier.".

  2. I had heard stories from before Brindi was even taken that she wouldn't let a contractor work on the foundation with "used" forms. You know the wood used to hold the wet concrete, which everyone does. Maybe just a rumor, but if it was true, no other contractor around would want to deal with her. Hence the situation we are in now.

Also I completely agree with Anon here that she had all summer of 2010 to get that in. House was already up, the foundation could have been done in a week I'm sure. But she was too busy planning parties for the dog and making sure everyone in the neighborhood knew she got it back. Remember the sign! My god!

  3. It seems that no one can do anything right according to her, so yes what contractor is going to put up with her telling him his job? They are more likely to tell her to fuck off, like the rest of us do.
