The Halifax woman behind a high-profile battle over her dog was found guilty on all three counts relating to 2010 attack on a neighbour's pet Thursday.
Halifax Regional Municipality asked that Francesca Rogier's dog, Brindi, be put down.
Rogier said the 2010 attack near her home in East Chezzetcook was not serious. "They were flesh wounds. They didn't go deep into the fatty tissue," she told CBC News outside the court.
Brindi jumped out of the window of Rogier's car and sank its teeth into a neighbour's smaller dog. The attacked dog was on a leashed walk with its owners. Brindi had recently been released after an earlier attack on another dog.
The judge ruled the 2010 attack broke three bylaws because Brindi was running at large and attacked another dog when Brindi was supposed to be wearing a muzzle.
Second serious attack
The dog was seized after the attack and is still at the city pound. The city argued Brindi should be destroyed.
"They would never have seized her in the first place if they didn't want to kill her," Rogier said.
Rogier's dog first got into trouble when it attacked another dog in 2008. Rogier fought a long and costly court battle to save her pet.
A court spared Brindi but imposed several conditions. Rogier was ordered to take a training course with her dog and muzzle her pet if it wasn't in a fenced-in area.
The judge warned that Brindi would likely be put to death if there was another attack.
Rogier said she plans to appeal the decision, arguing there were "strong charter" issues at play. She will be sentenced at the end of June. The dog's fate will be decided at the same time.

THE WAY TO BE ACCEPTED IN A NEW COMMUNITY.... NOT
Well as most everyone knows Ms.Rogier lives in Nova Scotia as a guest of the Canadian Government,and wishes to live there as a landed immigrant and I suspect would like to fit in to the community which she claims to like....well now wait a minute Ms Rogier posted this on her Face book page.

Now I can't speak for anyone else but if I wanted to move to a new country, I would not pick an area as Frannie describes,and if I did I would not make statements like the above on a public chat page which will just turn off the people of this great Province. IMO its not the way to fit into a community. Than there is the issue that Ms Rogier will not live by the laws of the community even when under a court order, and she thinks its us the residents of NS that are dysfunctional? I suggest Rogier looks into a mirror.

Oh but hang on the plot thickens,RR sent the link to Wayne....But now did he?....OH Hell NO it came from Fran's I will disclose how I know that for a fact in due course. Now something else that was noticed was the Blog was created by Fran herself,just as she created Humane Halifax,save Brindi,and countless other blogs and FB groups,to say nothing of twitter accounts Hell most of her crap is on this blog.
I am putting this out there just to show everyone that Ms Rogier is a user,Hell Rogier even called Robert Riley a drunk who couldn't be trusted its all in one of the tapes where she called HRM dispatch,well that probably is the case and if in fact it is the case; Why would Fran still associate with the likes?...... Yep you got it to use him for personal gain.
Further if one looks at the members in her open FBG one may discover that at least 3/4 of the members couldn't find Nova Scotia on a map let alone HRM Further the vast majority of members couldn't give a rats ass about Fran or Brindi, another classic example of people being used for personal gain,and just maybe a few of her suckers will donate to her paypal account.
To sum up its my opinion that Fran is just using Brindi as a meal ticket,as its no longer about the dog but Ms Rogier herself.Once brindi is hopefully re homed Rogier will have to have another cause to raise money,hopefully people won't be to gullable to be sucked in yet again.

A message from Queen Elizabeth, who, as we know, adores dogs, respectfully dubbed. The Queen (sort of) speaks on behalf of Brindi, a dog targeted for death for no good reason by Halifax, Nova Scotia. Admittedly, Brindi does on occasion have issues with dogs approaching her property. However, it is by no means all dogs. And (unlike, ahem, one or two of Princess Anne's dogs, dare one mention), Brindi has never, ever, bitten a child or an adult. Nor has she ever inflicted anything worse more than a few tiny "spots" (direct quote from dog owner) on another dog. She has what is called "good bite inhibition". And because of that, and the fact that her excellent trainer stands behind her and her guardian, Francesca Rogier, she should be freed and given the same tolerance and understanding Halifax animal control gives to scores of other dogs who have committed worse transgressions! But it does not look very good at the moment, hence the need to solicit help from higher powers - the highest in the land!
We would have much preferred the brilliant Queen record something original, but we understand she's a bit busy. We feel strongly that, if accurately informed about this case, she'll gladly forgive our audacity. After all, it is April 1. Beyond that, Brindi and Francesca Rogier deserve the Crown's best boost!

BRINDI HEALTH NEWS: The vet called this morning with troubling news about Brindi's blood test result for the pancreatic enzyme level. It's back up again, to 30% above normal. She went over the situation with me in detail. Only two months ago the level was normal (Jan. 24). Yet a month before, it was elevated 30% above normal, for some time. HRM and the kennel are not reporting any pancreatitis symptoms (attacks of diarrhea, vomiting), nor did they report any back then. This makes no sense for a dog with a history of chronic pancreatitis.
When did Brindi develop this history of a chronic pancreatic disease? I did notice with some interest, since you brought the subject up (again) trying to convince others, the current care takers are responsible, that, judging from the pictures you yourself have posted up, while Brindi was in your care, Brindi was already overweight. So coming to that, what did you feed her?
Almost always, the increased enzyme level is accompanied by symptoms. Our vets did the ultrasound to rule out the only other likely cause of the enzyme level increase, i.e., some kind of "mass" (a tumor or thickening). The level went down a month later, but now it's up again.
In one of your other posts, you mentioned again that Brindi had a tumor, so how come the vet did not do a biopsy? You appear to come off at ("poor") Brindi being sick a lot.
And again, the vets cannot figure out why the level shot up. It just doesn't make sense. Sure, there could be some cause they don't know about yet in veterinary medicine - but evidently there aren't any statistics or studies to compare it to, so it would be a pretty big anomaly.
They do know that Brindi had symptoms of pancreatitis in September, because the HRM vet documented them in a letter. And the same letter referred to previous attacks she had over the summer, which HRM didn't report at the time. Put that all together with the lack of a readily available explanation for her weight loss of around two pounds since January, and you have to ask, what is going on here, if she didn't have diarrhea or vomiting (which would explain weight loss)???!

In the meantime, Brindi can't go back on normal (tastier) food or have treats until the enzyme level gets back to normal. That's also frustrating, because she's been on low fat, reduced calorie food for at least half a year now.
