Description

This is a special online fundraiser for Save Brindi members who are willing and able to help pay for Brindi's vet in Nova Scotia to do an ultrasound and biopsy on her. The tests are being scheduled for the end of this month, around Jan. 23-25.

Dr. Larkin has been monitoring Brindi's health while in custody, at the request of her companion and lawful owner, Francesca Rogier.

Based on recent examinations of Brindi, Dr. Larkin has become worried that Brindi might have pancreatic cancer or some other serious condition.

THE TARGET GOAL:

The cost of these tests could be as much as $1500, based on the estimate drawn up by the vet today. Minimum cost is $700.

There is no treatment for pancreatic cancer. It is vital to have a diagnosis as soon as possible. The ultrasound and the biopsy are needed to make a proper diagnosis. Francesca is already struggling to keep afloat financially, as she is not permitted to work in Canada. For over a year, she has been borrowing money to cover the bills.

With your generous help, we plan to raise the money needed to pay for Brindi's tests. This money will only go to the vet's fees. Danielle Parsons has volunteered to keep track of donations and get a copy of the receipts from the vet clinic for verification.

HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE:

Two ways: 1. Donate from anywhere via paypal, or 2. If you live in Nova Scotia, you may buy a raffle ticket!

PRIZE: A $150.00 gift certificate for catering, to use for a party (birthday, anniversary, shower, etc.), for food and snacks, serving up to 10 guests,
OR applicable to any large event as a $150.00 discount!

PRIZE DRAWING: The prizewinning ticket will be drawn by Danielle on January 31 from a box filled with the names of all ticket buyers. The name of the winner will be posted here and sent to all participants.

HOW TO GET TICKETS: We can arrange to have tickets brought to you, or you may pick them up, or message Daniel, who will fill tickets out with name and phone number for you and place them in the box.

THERE'S MORE!!! Another company has offered to match all donations from raffle tickets and paypal by the end of January, up to the amount of $100!

The list of donations sent to me via email will be printed out and shown to this company, who will them match dollar for dollar! This firm would like to remain annomyous for the moment, but they have generously offered a great thing!

YOUR CHOICE: if you do not wish to/cannot purchase raffle tickets for the $150 catering gift certificate, then you can still just send your generous donation to Danielle or via paypal.

As stated, we will post a scanned veterinary receipt later on, as we want you to know you've assisted in Brindi's vet care!

Danielle says: So let's begin! Anyone wanting to purchase raffle tickets or donate, please message me ASAP! Remember I have to show proof to the company that is matching donations and I will also list donations and the name of sender unless they request to remain anonymous!

Thanks so much in advance! We are all praying that the tests will bring good news!

Donations have already started coming in! Stay tuned for updates!

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT!!! THIS IS A GREAT GROUP!!!

BACKGROUND
During the two years Halifax impounded Brindi, she contracted serious chronic illnesses that are traceable to lack of proper care.* Pancreatitis is one of them.

Brindi was hospitalized several times for symptoms of pancreatitis - diarrhea and vomiting - in late 2009. Though since Sept. 2010, the city has been cooperating with the vet so that Brindi's health could be monitored, it has refused to turn over complete health records.

In the last few months of 2011, the vet has seen indications of increased pancreatic enzymes, but according to the poundkeeper she has not been showing symptoms of pancreatitis.

*(Note: This is an account in Francesca's name. She opened it for the sole purpose of donations for legal costs. Paypal keeps a record of all transactions.)

**Brindi's teeth and gums developed dental disease, which can cause staph infections that attack organs and can cause sudden death. Francesca tried to prevent this from happening from day one, by regularly bringing fresh beef bones to the shelter. Unbeknownst to her, they did not give them to Brindi. """""""""

  1. IF, the funds are for the tests then they should be sent directly to the Vet on account. Not to some stranger who can tell you anything, and then do as they please with your cash. Keep in mind this dog is under a death sentence due to the owners negligence and will be appearing in court in Mar. for this very reason.
Last time in court the Judge told her if there was another incident, Brindi would have to be put down. Well there was another incident, 2 months later and that is why the dog is no longer with Fran.
