From what I can find online, it is NOT illegal to record a telephone conversation in Canada, as long as at least one party knows about it, which in this case the caller did. My first instinct was the same as yours, that this lady is just setting herself up for lots of trouble, but it appears not.
ReplyDeleteThe question of being illegal or legal is a very gray area in this case,since the caller was from South Africa which she admitted several times, the laws of both countries applies, I can't seem to find a lot on the CC in South Africa.

I couldn't agree with you more!! People are following blindly, without taking the time to find out the facts themselves. It frustrates me so much that they don't take the time to think about how some people in that neighbourhood might feel. I know from someone who lives in the neighbourhood that numerous people were afraid for a long time to walk past that house, long before any official complaints were made. Of course, none of that is admissible in court, but they just need to think about how it must have felt for other people to be afraid to walk down their own road for fear of being attacked!! Like most people, I feel strongly that Brindi is probably a lovely, sweet, affectionate dog and definitely deserves to live, but she deserves to live with someone who will keep her safer than this owner has done so far.

ReplyDeleteThey just don't realize the large trench they are digging for themselves by going about their support in all the wrong ways. It's no wonder no one wants to deal with them. I remember one of the supporters commenting on this site in another thread saying 'treat others the way you would want to be treated'....well I guess the supporters taping the phone calls don't care if someone did that to them.....Hypocrisy all over the map....mind boggling.
